Inaugurated in 2008, it occupies a restored mansion that faithfully recreates the facade of the historic 18th century townhouse that existed there, until it was consumed by a fire more than three decades ago. The restoration project and decoration are signed by the architect Renato Tavolaro, an expert in Brazilian colonial architecture. Wide windows and balconies bring into the house the scenarios that make Paraty one of the most charming cities in Brazil, such as the traditional roofs of colonial mansions, the surrounding mountains and the Church of Santa Rita, from 1722, and the green of the lush bay of Paraty and its islands. XVIII with the comfort of today - Pousada Porto Imperial. Erected in 1804, the building was originally a successful commercial warehouse, standing out for its location on the banks of the Perequê-açu River, a place where ships that transported goods arriving or leaving Paraty moored. Subsequently, it hosted the city's first “opera house” (as theaters were called at the time). This explains the almost four meter high ceiling height of the first floor. In its halls, balls were held to celebrate Brazil's independence in Paraty. The inn opened in 1978, being the first in the historic center and one of the most traditional in the entire city.
